Professor Frank Griffin and Milton Munro

Professor Frank Griffin (University of Otago)

Professor Frank Griffin is the Director of the Ag@Otago research theme at the University of Otago, and Emeritus Professor-in-Immunology in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology.

Since 1985, he has been Director of the Disease Research Laboratory (DRL) developing vaccines and laboratory diagnostics for tuberculosis (TB) paratuberculosis (Johne’s) and Yersiniosis in livestock. Most field trials for diagnostics and vaccine efficacy has been carried out on Southland farms.

Frank was awarded the NZ Deer Industry Award (1990), ONZM (2003), the Pickering Medal (2010) for Innovation in Technology, and elected a Fellow of the NZ Royal Society in 2012. His current research explores transformative changes on a number of Otago and Southland farms using Regenerative Agricultural systems, designed to remediate soil damage and mitigate climatic change.

Milton Munro (PPG Wrightson)

Milton Munro is the National Technical Manager for PGG Wrightson. With a background in Plant Science and more than 15 years working in the fields of agronomy and soil science, he is passionate about helping farmers and growers across New Zealand to future proof their farms and orchards in the advent of our changing times.

Milton leads a team of 25 vets, nutritionists, agronomists, soil scientists and researchers who share that same passion for improving our industry. PGG Wrightson is New Zealand’s largest supplier of products and services to Agricultural, Horticultural and Rural Sector.
