Te Tapu o Tāne Ltd

Te Tapu o Tāne is an exciting new native tree and plant nursery venture with charitable purpose, and we are commencing our first operation in the depths of Murihiku Southland - Waihopai / Invercargill.
We have been incorporated by mana whenua, by the four Papatipu Rūnanga of Murihiku - Waihopai, Awarua, Hokonui & Ōraka-Aparima.

Our ikoa Te Tapu o Tāne means ‘The Sacredness of Tāne and his tamariki’ (the forest). We are not your ‘normal’ native nursery - our goal is to grow and plant in quality natives and to return the mauri of our whenua and awa. We are here to talk and do full scale catchment rehabilitation from a te ao Māori perspective.

We are not just growing trees - we are growing OUR people… our community.

HE TANGATA! I THE PEOPLE

Our vision it to enact our right as Mana Whenua Kaitiaki - to use projects within our whenua & awa to talk and listen to our tūpuna. Every project has a story of our tupuna and every taonga species has a story and a use. We are here to show our community the IMPORTANCE of partnering with Mana Whenua.

Our commitment is to our awa, to our whenua, to our rūnanga and to our community.

We understand that before the water can be healed the people must be healed.

We have the energy; we have the motivation and now we need to commence building the dream team.

Bring your Knowledge! And we will bring our Whanaugatanga! And we look forward to our kōrero soon!
