Ministry of Education support for Te Ara Aukati Kore
Following a recent visit to meet with Education Sector leaders in Wellington, the Ministry of Education has agreed for Ivan Hodgetts to be an embedded resource to work in partnership with Murihiku Regeneration to support and lead the Te Ara Aukati Kore kaupapa. Te Ara Aukati Kore underpins much of our kaupapa to develop our rangatahi and lay a platform for successive generations. This is the first of a number of commitments from the government, education and tertiary sector to develop something that truly supports the aspirations of Murihiku Hapu , our whānau, and the wider community.
Ivan is the current Principal Advisor Secondary Transitions, for the Ministry of Education in the Southern Region - working out of Invercargill. He carries significant specialist education expertise and knowledge the mechanic’s of the education system that informs our ability to develop a whānau-centric approach to capability development. Since 2009 when he returned to Murihiku, Ivan has been involved in a range of initiatives through Hokonui Rūnanga. He is also currently the Deputy Chair of Awarua Whānau Health Services.
We have received strong support from Julie Anderson, the Ministry Regional Director and commitment from Iona Holsted, the Secretary of Education, for Ivan to work with us through to 2023.
